Conserving our natural resources & creating regenerative solutions.

A special message from the Conservation District’s Board of Supervisors

Thank you to every one of you that wrote to the Mayor, to your Metro Council Representative, and those that commented on the budget directly, in support of the Jefferson County Soil & Water Conservation District!

Because of everyone‘s efforts, we were able to regain most of our funding. Metro Council heard your pleas and amended the proposed budget to keep the SWCD alive. This will allow us to continue to support Jefferson County with the critical services, workshops, and resources we provide for another year. This is the importance of community advocacy!

Our funding request was still unfulfilled, ultimately – in order to extend the workshops and resources we provide, we need the expanded budget that we requested this year. We will have to keep fighting for our environmental health and protection going forward to secure that.

In the meantime, thank you again for your support. We will continue to serve Jefferson County’s environmental interests for as long as we’re able.

Thank you all,

Board of Supervisors

Sarah Beth Sammons, Chair
Austin Clark, Vice-chair
Elizabeth Everhart, Sec/Tres.

Conservation is our passion.

Our mission is to conserve Jefferson County’s natural resources by coordinating financial, technical and educational assistance that helps both rural and urban communities implement sustainable solutions. In so doing, the district is authorized to undertake, sponsor, or participate in projects and activities which promote the conservation, development, maintenance and use of the land, water, trees and other natural resources of the district.
